Aladdin comes to Henley on Thames

Yesterday evening the Advent Door was opened at the beautiful riverside restaurant La Barca, and the crowd was entertained by The Sinodun Players from Wallingford who gave us two excerpts from their upcoming Pantomime ‘Aladdin’. There was a Lion Dance (with the lion narrowly missing falling in the water during some particularly intricate steps!) and a song featuring Aladdin, the Court and his genie. There were a number of children in the audience, and we think a lot of them will be pushing their parents to buy tickets for the Panto when it starts on Jan 13th! Delicious tapas and warming wine were enjoyed afterwards on La Barca’s Terrace.

Tonight’s ‘Door’ will open at 6.15pm and the performers will come out on to the upper deck of the New Orleans, moored at Hobbs of Henley. Our clue for tonight is that the venue itself drops a big hint about the celebrities who will be there…… And those coming to watch will also have the opportunity to go on board the New Orleans for some Christmas treats.
