Double the surprise with real gems behind Advent door #11

Double the surprise with real gems behind Advent door #11

For a second night in a row, the Town Hall took centre stage for the Living Advent. Local jewellers Studio 35 kindly partnered for the evening, providing mulled cider and festive biscuits for the audience who donated generously again, this time to The Henley Music School.

Richard Rodway welcomed the audience and introduced Laura Reineke (founder of, and violin tutor at the school) to talk about the school, and then Laura took to the stage herself as the performer, with some beautiful and moving pieces, ably accompanied by her daughter on cello.

But the audience were not to be treated just to this superb performance. Halfway through the performance, the Rock Choir emerged from the audience flash-mob style to take over for the remainder of the evening, treating the audience to uplifting classics including “Merry Christmas Everyone” and “Don’t Stop Me Now”.

Richard Rodway, his two young sons, and Laura Reineke then presided over the raffle, with 8 fabulous prizes donated by Studio 35, helping to swell the donations on the night, and making it one of the biggest nights for donations so far this year.

Next up, the Living Advent returns to Christ Church for the first time since 2012, so join us as we reach the half-way stage of this year’s event, where we will be fundraising for Face of Henley.
