Falaise Academy Of Irish Dance

Falaise Academy Of Irish Dance

Day 17 of the Henley Living Advent Calendar saw the event return to Falaise Square in front of the Christmas tree once again. With some fog about, and the festive lighting in Falaise Square, which event technician Hugh Legh had added to, it made for a magical and festive setting.

Out of the mist, Richard Rodway beckoned the Farrell Flynn Academy of Irish Dance, and dancers from the school of all ages, treated the large audience to an enjoyable performance. The audience were encouraged to clap along to add to the atmosphere and they duly obliged. As a finale, around 15 people from the audience were invited to join the performers in the square for some impromptu audience participation.

The audience were treated to mince pies by partners for the evening Robinson Sherston estate agents, and the night acted as a fundraiser for Royal British Legion. With some great prizes donated by the charity including a Spitfire Simulator experience and a Thames River boat trip, the audience gave very generously indeed.

“Other than an opening night, we raised more here in Falaise Square than ever before” said event organiser Richard Rodway. “ It’s the coming together of so many things. Hugh has helped create a really magical setting tonight, and with many people off school and work for Christmas now, it marked a great way to get Christmas week underway. It was such a fun, engaging and interactive performance which embodied Henley community festive cheer and coming together, which is what the event is all about”.

Next up for the Living Advent, and day 18, the Sunday before Christmas, has become a bit of a tradition at d:two Baptist church.
