Glee Club UK kicks off 2013's Living Advent Calendar

Last night's event was held in the Henley Market Place, in front of the Town Hall, and was introduced at 6.15pm by Henley's Mayor Stefan Gawrysiak, who as it happens, is a former teacher from Gillott's School. Along with Stefan, was the event's instigator Julie Perigo from the Henley Partnership, and the evening's sponsor was Bremont Watches, a company also based in Henley.

It was Bremont Ambassador, BBC Ski Sunday Presenter, and five times Olympic skier Graham Bell who officially opened the 24 night event, and opened the door to let the first entertainers through. One of the highlights of each evening being that no one knows what entertainment will be provided, so it is always a surprise!

Tonight's entertainment was the wonderful Glee Club UK, who sang three Christmas carols in their fine voices, and kept the crowds more than entertained, whilst the marshals wielded buckets, sold the bright red beany hats, and sold the raffle tickets.

Very special thanks to Gorvette and Stone Chocolatiers in Henley and to Barrett and Coe Photographers in Caversham for providing tonight's raffle prizes. One lucky winner went home with a box of chocolates and a family photo shoot....how's that for a Christmas treat for £1, with proceeds benefiting four local charities: Oceans Project, Regatta for the Disabled, Poppy Appeal, and Henley Youth Club?

The next event takes place this evening at 6:15 p.m. at the Henley Fire Station, this time sponsored by The Argyll Pub, with raffle prizes from Hot Gossip cafe (the only dog friendly cafe in town, and they do amazing and well priced beverages and cakes).
