Regal Picturehouse - Wednesday 10th

Highlights

A rare ‘warm’ Living Advent audience settled into their seats at the Regal to see what awaited them on the Big Screen for night 10 of the Living Advent, following some fantastic canapes and tiramisu courtesy of partner for the evening Strada in the foyer.

The audience were treated to trailers for ‘Madagascar Penguins’ and ‘Frozen’ to warm them up ahead of the main feature, namely the winning entries for this year’s Film Competition.

Jane Brian-Boys of the Regal Picturehouse introduced the films, which were directed to be on the theme of ‘Henley in autumn and winter’. The first film, a collaboration by friends from Gillotts School, Poppy, Phoebe and Wendy, very much was a fun, uplifting snapshot of a day in the (Henley) life of local school children, won the U12s category. 16 year old James Hargreaves from Shiplake College entered the film competition last year, and it was second time lucky for him as his film won the U18s category. A subtle and beautiful film, very much captured the essence of the town and the season in a very different way.

Richard Rodway, Chair of the Living Advent, awarded both winners with £50 gift vouchers, courtesy of his firm and Living Advent sponsors The Head Partnership Solicitors. Jane Brian-Boys also provided the winners with Regal Picturehouse vouchers too.

Richard Rodway then invited children from the audience to draw the lucky tickets from the raffle and awarded the prizes courtesy of Strada (gift voucher), the Regal Picturehouse (gift voucher) and Simmons & Son (bottle of wine).

Next stop for the Living Advent is to the Town Hall, and the main hall upstairs, for night 11. The Old Bell of Bell Street will be partnering on this occasion.

Every evening Dec 1st - 24th, 6:15 to 6:45pm
