Angel on the Bridge - Tuesday 2nd

Highlights

Breaking with tradition at the Angel on the Bridge last night, the performance was moved from the terrace into the building itself. Chair Richard Rodway explained how he had wanted to turn the focus, and the spectacle of the performance, on the building itself tonight. "Such a wonderful building", rather than have the performance on the terrace as in previous years. "It also enabled us to accommodate a bigger audience. I also had the idea of turning the building into an Advent Calendar, with something to see in different windows".

The Angel on the Bridge and Copas Turkeys worked together so well last year and 'knew the drill', so the evening presented a more relaxing set-up for the Living Advent team than the opening night.

The audience on the terrace were treated to a 30 minute set by players from the Henley Suzuki Violin Group, and Corelli Quartet, conducted and led by Anna Del Nevo with an entertaining mix of classical numbers, interspersed with some uplifting festive numbers from Silent Night to Jingle Bells, which got the crowd going, ably assisted again by the snow machine!

The Copas Turkey burgers, with Lawlor's the Bakers providing the buns, were a great hit again.

Councillor Sam Evans opened festivities tonight, and Mark Dunlop from the Angel on the Bridge assisted me with the raffle, with prizes kindly provided by Henley Golf Club, Toad Hall Garden Centre, and Temptations Gifts.

Two very different nights, and something different again on day 3 as we move on to Stuart Turners (NB - the performance area will be on the Greys Road end of the site), with Pachangas debuting as partners with refreshments this time.

A big big thank you to Martin Cook of Hidden Henley for his photography last night www.hiddenhenley.com
