Highlights

An audience of around 75 people attended the 7th night of the Henley Living Advent, which took place in the pavilion at Henley Cricket Club. The audience were treated to warm winter cider and baked treats from co-partners GPC Marketing and Lawlors Bakery. Lawlors Bakery had a pop up stall of a variety of Christmas themed baked products.

The night was a fundraiser for Badgemore Primary school and Mayor Kellie Hinton, who is supporting the local Primary School, appealed to the audience to donate and buy raffle tickets generously. Richard Rodway welcomed the audience and then introduced the evening’s secret performers (who had been loitering in the pavilion changing rooms), the 33 strong Rock Choir, led by conductor Lucy Hewes. The audience were treated to a number of classic hits as well as some festive numbers, ranging from Beyonce’s “Halo” to “Merry Christmas Everyone” by Shakin’ Stevens.

The audience were then treated to a surprise impromptu second performance, with Councillor Dave Eggleton performing a card trick involving a member of the audience and Richard Rodway. The pair then provided over the nightly raffle and the auction of 2 further items, raising a record total at a Living Advent performance at the Cricket Club.

“The Living Advent would not be the Living Advent without the appearance of the Rock Choir at some point” said Richard Rodway. “It was such a joyful performance and created such a good atmosphere, and with the spirit of the likes of David Eggleton, the Mayor, Nicola Taylor and Phil and Gill Chappell it made for another real feel good occasion”.

The event now moves on to the Bull on Bell Street for night 8.
