Henley Fire Station - Saturday 10th

Highlights

The biggest Advent doors of this year (the Fire Station garage doors), were opened on night 10 to reveal that the Fire Service were unable to provide their own performance this year. Michael Saunders from the Fire Station explained that illness and absences had precluded them from preparing or performing something this year, but they would have to return with something bigger and better in 2017!

The large audience were treated to a rousing and uplifting performance by the Rock Choir instead. The 36 strong choir, led by conductor and mentor Lucy Hewes performed several contemporary and festive classics such as Wham’s “Last Christmas “ and Stevie Wonder’s “What Christmas Means To Me”.

After the performance, the audience had an opportunity to inspect the Fire Engine and have a tour of the Fire Station. Mayor Julian Brookes and Richard Rodway presided over the nightly raffle, this time in aid of Henley YMCA. Richard Rodway thanked himself and his partners at the Head Partnership Solicitors, partners for the night, who had supplied cookies for the audience.

Thank you to Helen Maynard of the Henley Photography School for the photos from tonight.

Next stop for the Living Advent takes us to Falaise Square, where Manning UK Insurance specialists will be partnering in conjunction with the Argylle Pub in aid of Building For The Future.
