A large crowd assembled in Falaise Square for Day 11 of the Living Advent. The event kicked off early as there was a bumper double surprise at the end of the Festive Sunday Shopping Event. At 5:45pm 74 of Stephs Dancing Divas & Dudes entertained the audience, performing to the likes of Olly Murs’ “Dance with me tonight” and Shaking Stevens’ “Merry Christmas Everyone”.

At 6:15pm the performance was followed by a 10 strong choir from HAODS performing some festive classics such as Carol Of The Bells and a sing along rendition of The 12 Days Of Christmas. Proceedings had to be halted briefly when the Divas & Dudes ( still buzzing from their performance caught sight of Father Christmas on his sleigh who performed 4 laps of the Town Hall much to their delight.

“It was chaos in Falaise Square tonight” said Living Advent organiser Richard Rodway, “but there was such a good and busy festive atmosphere in the town. We were not expecting Father Christmas to put in an appearance, and a big thanks to HAODs for taking that unusual interruption in their stride”.

With some warm sausage rolls and mulled wine courtesy of The Argylle, donations for the night’s charity Building For The Future were swelled. Richard Rodway thanked the night’s partners Manning UK Insurance Specialists of Reading Road, before conducting the raffle, which included some chocolates and Prosecco from the charity and some Kenton Panto tickets.

Day 12 of the Living Advent marks the half way stage of this year’s event, and takes the event indoors to a new venue to the schedule “Magoos”. Cook Curry Club are partnering, so warm refreshment is on the menu and fundraising is for Riverside Counselling.
