Amidst the rain on night #4, the audience huddled under the canopies on the riverside terrace at The Angel On The Bridge pub for night 4, save for a few hardy souls who were happy to bop away under the drizzle.
Treated to warmed winter pimms by our hosts for the evening, partners for the night Copas Turkeys kind donated delicious turkey crowns which, together with some baps courtesy of Lawlors Bakery, means turkey baps for all.
At 6:15 p.m. Richard Rodway introduced the night’s surprise performer, Johnny “B Good” Bidgood (with a soft toy donkey strapped to his mic – which would make more sense later in the set), making at least his 5th appearance in the event, whether as a solo performer or larger ensemble.
He got the audience’s toes tapping with the Beatles “I saw her standing there” before taking the audience through a largely festive set, including a duet (at least for the introduction) with Richard Rodway for “Dominic The Donkey”, with the audience heartily joining in with the “Hee-haws” as required; Shakin Stevens’ “Merry Christmas Everyone”; and culminating with Mr Bidgood’s own version of “Merry Xmas : War is Over” by John Lennon, referencing the war in Ukraine and now Israel / Gaza.
Richard Rodway then presided over the raffle, with proceeds tonight going to The Chiltern Centre.
