An unprecedented shift to an earlier than normal start time of 5:45 p.m. (because of and England World Cup football tie) didn’t hinder audience numbers who congregated in the Finlay Suite at Phyllis Court Club for night 4 of this year’s event.
At 6:15 p.m., the audience were invited to file through into the ballroom to take up their seats as local jazz collective WotJam began to play...
The second new venue to this year’s schedule saw a spirited audience pack into the garden of The Anchor pub in Friday Street. Served mince pies by our hosts for the evening, the audience warmly joined in with the night’s surprise performer Johhny B Good.
He treated the audience to an uplifting set comprising some classics such as “I Saw Her Standing Her” and “That’ll Be The Day” interspersed with festive classics...
We were delighted to take the event to Thames Lodge (The Henley Masonic Centre) for the first time, and not just because it was inside in the warm! The fabulous architecture (the only building in Henley supported by Heritage UK) serving as a fabulously quirky and intimate setting. The audience initially gathered in the bar area where they were treated to fizz from the night’s partners (fellow Living Advent newbies) Fairmile Vineyard, and mince pies courtesy of our hosts for the evening.....
